Let's Talk About the Death Note

Due to Teamfourstar's latest #CellGames (presented by Hetap) video I have seen a lot of comments talking about whether the Death Note could kill Cell or not. I am part of a Death battle debate group as well so this isn't the first time the Death Note's capabilities have been brought to conversation for me but I have put a little more thought into this time.

For starters a point that is brought up very often is that the Death Note only works on Humans. However nowhere is this stated to be 100% Factual. "The Human whose name is written in this note shall die" This could be looked at in 2 ways

1) The DN only kills humans.
2) The DN is only guaranteed to kill humans. (Ergo it may work against beings, but is not guaranteed to.)
3) The DN only talks of Shinigami and Human because they are the only known beings to exist within the verse, therefore the use of Human gives us no information at all.

Both 1& 2 are Fallacies in that they both assume information that is not given. Neither is wrong but neither is proven correct.

Onto a few points mentioned in the Cell vs Light case mentioned. Keep in mind that the video is parody and the creators gave Cell multiple hearts for comedic purposes, one argument arose from that however.

Someone saying that Cell having multiple hearts should not make it so he cannot die from the default heart attack that the DN induces, because as written in the DN'S rules that person shall die and the heart attack is just a means to an end.

A rule that may counter this argument is " The conditions for death will not be realized unless it is physically possible for person or it is reasonably assumed to be carried out by that person." So due to Cell himself being physically incapable of dying due to heart attack the default still happens but is unable to follow through with the death. This is the rule Light learned of when experimenting on prisoners.

Cell could also not fly himself into the sun due to this rule.

Here is an easily refutable argument. "The DN could easily kill Cell by making him blow every cell of himself up, though the planet would be collateral damage"

The rule "Whether the cause of the individuals death is either a suicide or accident, if the death leads to the death of more than the intended, the person will simply die of a heart attack. This is to ensure that other lives are not influenced." Thus leading back to a heart attack dilemma.

It's amazing how intricately designed the Death Note was and it is fun to look at whether or not it would be able to effect certain powerful foes, but as to a foe like Cell I believe it would be hard to make it work.

Also a bit of trivia, did you know there are a total of 66 "How to" pages for the Death Note? That's a lot of rules.
